Read moreFine jewellery pendants place a beautifully chosen gemstone at the neckline, from classic solitaire designs to more distinctive decorative settings. Explore lab-grown diamonds, moissanite and coloured gemstones in platinum and gold. Round, marquise and other stone shapes offer different silhouettes, while the pendant's dimensions and chosen chain length influence how it sits when worn.
A pendant is a small detail that can change the character of a necklace. A simple solitaire is versatile enough for daily wear, while a halo or colourful centre can give the piece more presence. Think about how the pendant will sit against different necklines before choosing the size.
Look at the pendant's total height as well as the gemstone dimensions. A high-set stone or decorative bail may make the piece appear longer than expected. The chain length and width should feel balanced with the pendant and be comfortable for your routine. Check whether the fastening and chain are included with the design.
Lab diamond pendants produce classic brilliance, while moissanite centres give a different pattern of colourful fire. For a more focused comparison, explore lab diamond pendants and moissanite pendants.

Read moreThe size and shape of a pendant make the biggest difference to how it looks when worn. We'd compare its actual height and width in millimetres rather than rely on an enlarged photograph. The chain length matters too, because the same pendant can sit quite differently against a high neckline or an open one. We'd also check whether the selected piece comes with a chain or offers separate chain options.
Pendant dimensions and chain length are separate, so we'd look at both when choosing a gift or planning to layer jewellery. A small centrepiece on a shorter chain can feel subtle, while a longer chain changes the overall effect. If you'd like to use a chain you already own, check the size of the pendant's bail and whether the chain gauge is appropriate for its weight.
A pendant relies on a small loop or bail connecting it to the chain, and that's a part we'd check from time to time. Avoid sharp pulls and store the chain carefully to prevent tangles. We recommend cleaning according to the gemstone and metal rather than using a harsh all-purpose product. If the pendant has small accent stones, their settings deserve attention as well.
Our jewellery specialists would be delighted to help you compare designs at our London or Manchester showrooms, or in a virtual consultation.
