Choosing fine jewellery rings

Assess the whole ring on the hand

Look at the widest part of the design, its height and the placement of stones around the band. A shaped or multi-stone ring can have a different footprint from a simple centre setting. Check each stone’s identity and read total weight in context.

Decide how it will be worn

Try the design alongside any rings you intend to pair with it. Exposed settings and side stones may need space to avoid contact. Confirm the finger size and resizing options, particularly where the setting continues around much of the band.

Fine Jewellery Rings FAQs

What matters most when choosing fine jewellery rings?

With a fine jewellery ring, we'd start by considering how you'd like to wear it. Some designs make a lovely statement on their own, while a smaller gemstone ring can be stacked with other bands. We'd compare the ring's width, metal and setting height alongside the actual gemstone. Those details will help you choose something that feels comfortable and suits the jewellery you already enjoy.

How should I check the size and fit of fine jewellery rings?

A ring should feel secure but comfortable, slipping over the knuckle with a little resistance. Wider designs may feel more snug than narrow ones in the same nominal size. We'd suggest measuring with a similar-width sizer where possible. If you plan to wear other rings alongside it, check their combined width and whether raised gemstones cause the bands to sit at an angle.

How do I look after fine jewellery rings in regular use?

The best way to care for a fine jewellery ring depends on the gemstone and metal. Sapphire, emerald and diamond have different properties, so we'd avoid using one cleaning method for every piece. Remove the ring for activities likely to knock the stone, and store it separately from harder jewellery. We'd also recommend checking delicate claws or other settings if they begin to catch.
