Choosing alexandrite engagement rings (lab grown)

Look at colour change in context

Ask for the same stone in daylight-like and warm incandescent lighting. The strength and balance of the colour change can vary with the stone, lighting and viewing conditions; one enhanced photograph cannot tell the whole story. Consider which appearance you will enjoy in the places you wear your ring.

Frame the centre with intention

A solitaire keeps the colour change prominent, while a halo or diamond-set shoulder adds a separate source of detail. Compare the product’s centre dimensions and the overall head width. Check the listed accent-stone origin for your design instead of assuming all alexandrite rings use the same diamonds.

Confirm identity and care

Lab grown alexandrite belongs to the chrysoberyl family. A colour-change photograph alone does not authenticate a gemstone: use the product specification and available supplier or laboratory information. Follow advice for the selected stone and setting, and remove the ring before activities that expose it to impact.

Designs to compare

A question worth asking

Will my alexandrite always show the same colour as a photograph?

Its appearance changes with the light and viewing conditions. Compare a consistent sequence of photographs or video of the chosen stone, rather than expecting one colour in every setting.
