Global Witness brings together the issues of human rights, corruption, the trade in natural resources, the role of banks, the arms trade, conflict. It is the only organisation that does this, period.
Global Witnessfirst exposed the problem of blood diamonds in 1998 and played a key role in establishing the Kimberley Process (KP), a government-led certification scheme, initiated in a bid to clean up the diamond trade. The scheme was launched in 2003 and requires member states to set up an import and export control system for rough diamonds. Over 75 of the world’s diamond producing, trading and manufacturing countries participate in the scheme.
Lily Arkwright is honoured to be a Global Witness donor and fully supports all critical work undertaken to raise awareness of vital issues affecting communities around the globe.
