Read moreEmerald-cut lab-grown diamond engagement rings are defined by long step facets, elegant straight lines and cropped corners. Their broad, mirror-like reflections give the centre a distinctly architectural appearance. Discover platinum and gold settings from minimal solitaires to hidden halos and diamond-set bands, where the diamond's proportions and open facet pattern remain a central part of the design.
An emerald cut lab diamond has long, parallel facets that create a calm, architectural play of light. Its broad steps and open centre can make internal characteristics more noticeable than they would be in a busy brilliant cut, so clarity deserves particular attention when comparing individual stones.
Look at whether the rectangular outline is fuller or more elongated, and compare the symmetry of its cropped corners. A report provides useful dimensions and grades, but images and video reveal how the facets appear in movement. There is no need to choose a particular length-to-width ratio simply because it is described as ideal online.
An emerald cut's broad steps can make its interior easier to see than a diamond with more fragmented sparkle. When reviewing a grading report, consider where any inclusions are positioned and whether they can be seen without magnification. Look at the symmetry of the long facets, too. A precise-looking stone deserves a setting that holds its corners neatly and complements its straight edges.
A plain solitaire gives the emerald cut a refined look; diamond shoulders create a brighter contrast with the measured centre facets. The corner claws and side profile should also be considered, particularly if you wish to wear a straight wedding band. For more settings using the same shape, view our emerald cut engagement rings.

Read moreEmerald-cut lab-grown diamonds are recognised for their long, stepped facets and calm, mirror-like reflections. We'd compare the length-to-width ratio first, as some feel almost square while others are elegantly rectangular. The individual stone's symmetry and actual dimensions matter more than a headline carat figure when you're deciding how it will look on the hand. A video is particularly helpful with this cut.
Because the facets are broad and open, inclusions may be more noticeable in an emerald-cut diamond than in a brilliant cut. We'd look at the actual centre, not simply aim for the highest clarity grade available. The location of any inclusion, the stone's proportions and its overall appearance all matter. For a geometric outline with more lively brilliant-style sparkle, you could compare our radiant lab-grown diamond rings.
A solitaire lets the step-cut pattern of an emerald diamond take centre stage. Claws reveal more of the clipped corners, whereas a bezel frames them with a clean border of metal. We'd also compare the height of the stone and the width of the band; both influence the ring's balance. If wedding-band fit is important, ask to see a side view of the exact setting you're considering.
Our jewellery specialists would be delighted to help you compare designs at our London or Manchester showrooms, or in a virtual consultation.
