VIOLA - Oval Moissanite & Diamond Platinum Shoulder Set Ring
Detail continues along the band. Read the accent specification and compare the shoulders with the centre’s proportions.
View this designMoissanite engagement rings offer a bright, distinctive sparkle in a gemstone separate from diamond. Explore round, oval and other moissanite cuts in platinum and gold, with settings from refined solitaires to halos and diamond-accented shoulders. The stone's lively flashes of light give each design its own character, while the band and centre proportions help create a ring that feels personal.
Moissanite brings lively sparkle to an engagement ring, but the setting gives that sparkle its character. Begin with the silhouette you love, then compare the details of the rings in this collection.
A solitaire keeps the outline clean and places the moissanite at the centre of the design. A shoulder set ring adds detail along the band; a halo creates a more defined frame. LULU offers a petite solitaire composition, while VIOLA combines an oval centre with diamond-set shoulders. Check the diamond specifications on each product page when comparing accented designs.
Compare round, oval, pear and the other available cuts using the shape filter. The length and width in millimetres help you understand how much of the finger the stone will cover. Check whether a stated carat figure describes the gemstone's weight or a diamond-equivalent size, and confirm the option shown in the photographs.
White gold and platinum create a bright, tonal setting; yellow and rose gold introduce warmth. Look at the band width, side profile and position of the claws as well as the view from above. If you plan to wear a wedding band alongside your engagement ring, ask our team how your preferred pair will sit together.
Gemstone range, dimensions, precious metal and any diamond accents are listed on the individual product page. Compare the complete ring and its current price, rather than a general saving or a single carat figure. Our team can help you shortlist designs and confirm the details of your selected ring.

Read moreMoissanite and lab-grown diamond are different gemstones, even though both can look bright and beautiful in an engagement ring. Moissanite is silicon carbide and often shows more rainbow-coloured flashes of light; lab-grown diamond has the essential properties of diamond. We'd suggest comparing the two under normal lighting to see which appearance you prefer. If you'd like to explore diamond as an alternative, see our lab-grown diamond engagement rings.
A moissanite's stated size may be given as a diamond-equivalent carat weight, which doesn't mean it actually weighs the same as a diamond. The two materials have different densities. We'd compare the physical length or diameter in millimetres if you're trying to decide how large the stone will look on the hand. It's worth checking whether any size figure refers to the individual centre or the complete design.
Moissanite is a relatively hard, scratch-resistant gemstone and can be a lovely choice for a ring worn frequently. As with diamonds, though, the setting still needs care and no stone is completely immune to impacts. We'd look at how the claws protect exposed corners and whether the basket sits comfortably for the wearer's routine. Regular cleaning and occasional setting checks are sensible, especially with decorative shoulders or halos.
A solitaire is a good choice if you want moissanite's own sparkle to be the main feature. A halo adds a decorative frame of smaller stones, while a bezel creates a stronger metal outline around the centre. We would compare the ring from above and from the side, paying attention to height and wedding-band fit. The most suitable option depends on whether you favour a simpler silhouette or a more detailed design.
Our jewellery specialists would be delighted to help you compare designs at our London or Manchester showrooms, or in a virtual consultation.
