Assess the cushion cut diamond

Some cushions look almost square; others are more rectangular. Their faceting can also produce different patterns of brightness. Judge the selected diamond’s appearance rather than assuming all cushions share one look, and use its millimetre dimensions to assess coverage on the hand.

Look at the complete mounting

Compare the corner claws and overall head width. A surrounding halo can make the ring broader, while a fine solitaire keeps more emphasis on the cushion itself. The height and underside of the basket matter when pairing it with a wedding band.
