Cheering On The Yard: Lily Arkwright Donates £300 to Support Inclusive Adventure for All

Lily Arkwright Supports The Yard Scotland: Empowering Inclusive Play Through Our Social Champions Fund

At Lily Arkwright, we believe in the power of community. Since launching our Social Champions initiative in October 2024, we’ve been proud to support causes close to the hearts of our team and customers - uplifting local organisations who go the extra mile to create impact and foster kindness in their communities. This month, we’re thrilled to support The Yard Scotland, a truly inspiring charity working to create adventure play opportunities for disabled children and young people.

Founded on the values of inclusion, fun, and respect, The Yard provides safe, creative play spaces for children with additional support needs and their families. With sites in Edinburgh, Dundee, and Kirkcaldy, The Yard has built a thriving community where young people can be themselves, build confidence, and develop friendships in a welcoming and non-judgmental environment. Their mission aligns beautifully with the heart behind our Social Champions campaign: to uplift grassroots efforts making a real difference.

Our Glasgow showroom team nominated The Yard as this month’s recipient after learning about their latest fundraiser, “Yardies on Tour”— a fun, energetic campaign that sees supporters cycling across the country to raise funds for inclusive play. We were so impressed by their creativity and passion that we knew we had to help.

“Every child deserves a safe space to play and be themselves. The Yard’s inclusive approach ensures that every child and family feels welcomed and supported. This renovation is about creating a true one-stop shop for family support—addressing the practical challenges families face while providing meaningful, inclusive play opportunities.”

— Gill Thomson, Service Development Manager

To show our support, we made a £300 donation through our Social Champions fund to help push their fundraiser over the finish line. Speaking about their motives behind the donation, a representative from Lily Arkwright said:

“At Lily Arkwright, we’re passionate about supporting organisations that make a real difference. The Yard’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive space for children and families truly resonated with us. Our monthly Social Champions fund allows us to give back in a meaningful way, and we’re proud to help them continue the incredible work they do.”

With the support of their local community and partners like Lily Arkwright, the Yardies on Tour campaign has now surpassed its fundraising target - proof that when people come together to support something meaningful, incredible things can happen.

Celebrating Changemakers, Month by Month

The Social Champions fund was created not only to give back, but to celebrate the changemakers working quietly behind the scenes to improve lives, whether that’s a local sports team, a community centre, a family-run business in need, or a charity like The Yard.

Each month, a member of the Lily Arkwright team nominates a cause close to their heart. We make a donation, highlight the story through our platforms, and where possible, aim to build long-term connections that extend beyond the initial donation.

To us, it’s not just about the money. It’s about amplifying good, championing compassion, and reminding ourselves that even the smallest acts of support can go a long way.

From everyone at Lily Arkwright, thank you to The Yard for the amazing work you do. We’re proud to support you.
