THE BESPOKE PROCESS
Our Bespoke and Custom Engagement Ring Design Process
Step 1: Concept
Our bespoke design team work with your ideas, sketches and images to shape a design brief. Bring whatever you have, whether that is a clear reference or a rough idea, and we will help shape it into something workable. The brief we agree at this stage is what guides every stage that follows. We charge a one of £90 fee fee at this stage.
Step 2: Prototype
Our team brings your design to life with computerised renders and 3D images of the finished ring. You see exactly how your ring will look before production starts and can make unlimited changes at this stage. An additional optional £60 fee is payable if you require a wax ring prototype before we sign off your design.
Step 3: Complete
Once the ring design is approved, your bespoke engagement ring is crafted by our expert Goldsmiths. The finished piece is ready to collect from one of our showrooms or delivered to you. This usually takes upto 6 weeks.

Bespoke wedding rings can be designed alongside your engagement ring or as a separate commission. The wedding band is shaped to sit flush with the engagement ring you wear. Bespoke wedding ring design is available in any metal, with optional diamond or gemstone accents.

Tailor made engagement rings adjust an existing setting to your specification. Bring a design that is almost right and the team will evolve it. A bespoke engagement ring is a ring designed from scratch to your brief. The stone, the metal, the setting, the carat weight and any personal detail are agreed with you before we begin. Nothing is pulled from an existing template. What is a bespoke ring more generally? Every bespoke piece leaves our workshop as a one-off, made for the person who will wear it.
How much do bespoke engagement rings cost?
Our bespoke commissions start from £2,000. The final cost depends on the stone you choose, the carat weight, the metal and the complexity of the setting. The team will give you a clear price at the brief stage, before any design work starts.
What stones can I choose from?
We work with several families of centre stone. Lab grown diamonds are chemically and optically identical to mined diamonds and come with independent grading. Moissanite is a brilliant, hard-wearing stone with exceptional fire and an ethical, conflict-free profile. Coloured gemstones open up the full design space, from classic blue sapphire to rubies, emeralds, and rarer choices like padparadscha and alexandrite. And last but not least Natural diamonds.
Can I visit a showroom before designing my bespoke engagement ring?
Yes. Walk-ins are welcome at our Marylebone and Manchester showrooms. You can browse our standard collections in person, try on comparable settings, and discuss what you want before starting the bespoke design process. Private appointments are also available if you prefer to book ahead.
Can I design my engagement ring online or over video?
Yes. Every stage of the bespoke process can be run remotely over video. You see the stones on camera, work through the brief in real time with the design team, and review the renders before sign-off. The virtual route is the one we recommend for clients outside London and Manchester.
Do you design bespoke wedding rings as well?
Yes. Lily Arkwright designs bespoke wedding rings alongside or after your engagement ring. Mention it in the brief and the team can design the wedding band as part of a matching set, or design it separately later.
