Buying guide

Warm gold, a clear outline and individual proportions

Yellow gold gives a moissanite engagement ring a visible warmth that becomes part of the design. A fine band creates a narrow line of contrast around the centre stone; a fuller band makes the metal more prominent. Neither approach is more correct, but they lead to different compositions.

What does 18ct describe?

18ct yellow gold contains 75% gold, with other metals forming the remainder of the alloy. The term describes metal fineness, not the size or quality of the moissanite. Our rings may use the equivalent notation 18k in their product specifications. Check the band dimensions and the details of the selected design separately.

Let the visible gold guide the setting choice

A moissanite solitaire can emphasise the contrast between stone and band. A more detailed shoulder design distributes attention across the ring. Look at the claws and basket too: the amount of gold around and beneath the centre helps define its appearance from different angles.

Choose a shape for the whole composition

Round moissanite rings offer a balanced circular outline; emerald cuts give a more architectural shape. Review the stone measurements against the band width and remember that diamond-equivalent weight, where used, is a size comparison rather than the actual weight of a diamond centre.

Should I also consider rose gold?

Rose gold moissanite rings provide a softer, pinker warmth. Compare both beside jewellery you already wear and in ordinary lighting, not only against a studio background. A ring consultation can help with metal comparisons, ring sizing and wedding-band clearance. Gold can acquire surface marks with use, so consider aftercare as part of the choice.
